Monica's Joy is a fund that supports senior shelter pets. Donations to Monica's Joy will go directly to the unique medical, diagnostic, dietary, and emotional needs of our aging pet population while they await their forever families.
About the Fund
Humane Society of Western Montana staff, board members, and friends mourn the loss of Monica Weisul, a passionate community leader and animal advocate, who gave selflessly to this organization along with countless others.
We are honored to continue her legacy through Monica's Joy: a fund created to support shelter pets in their golden years. Donations to Monica's Joy will go directly to the special medical, dietary, and emotional needs of our aging pet population while they await their forever families. Monica's Joy will continue to support these pets after their adoption and through their final years at home.
HSWM is eternally grateful to Monica’s husband Jonathan Weisul, The Harris Family, The Schwartz Family and Julie Armstrong & James Stevens for this opportunity to memorialize Monica’s life. We are all inspired by Monica’s tireless service and commitment to her community.
Ways to Give
A story about Monica has been circulating around HSWM, which conveys her unparalleled generosity:
As Monica finished up a vet visit for one of her adopted older dogs, she overheard a fellow client discussing an expensive surgery for his beloved 12-year-old dog with another vet. Wringing his hands, the gentleman asked if the vet would consider accepting payment in installments. Monica interrupted: "I'll pay for the surgery. Consider it done."
In addition to her generous financial support for senior pets and those who love them, Monica spent hundreds of hours comforting and caring for overlooked pets at HSWM.
