Research shows that even a few hours away from the shelter can be very beneficial for dogs residing in the shelter. Volunteers can participate in our field trip program, Date With a Dog (a two hour hike, coffee date or nap with a dog), or foster a dog for a longer time through our Sleepover Program (one or two nights away from the shelter). Email email@example.com to learn more or go to our website to become a volunteer!
Sleepovers and Field Trips
Take a dog on a one or two night sleepover in your home! This is a great way to help relieve the shelter stress a dog experiences while awaiting adoption and it's also a great way to get to know an adoptable dog. Chat with our Community Engagement Coordinator about your living situation and family, and what dogs might be a good fit for you. Attend a short 30 minute Sleepover Social orientation and get started immediately! We provide all the supplies you may need- you provide the love and a home away from the shelter. It's that easy!
For shelters/rescues looking to start your own Sleepover Program, we are happy to share all of our program documents, signage and more below. Please email Mariah at firstname.lastname@example.org with any additional questions about how to start a program at your own shelter!
Date With a Dog
We are so excited about our new Date With a Dog program! Studies show that spending just 30 minutes with a human helps relieve stress in dogs residing in shelters, and we are big believers in stress reduction. Depending on you and your dog's preferences, your Date may include a nature walk, a stroll downtown, a relaxing coffee date or even a nap at home! Chat with our Training and Behavior Manager, Mariah, about Date With a Dog and then schedule yourself for an upcoming Date here. Please note that our Dates are extremely popular and we are scheduled out for several weeks. Check back frequently as we will be adding more Dates to the schedule soon!
