Position Summary
The Pet Adoption and Welfare Specialists are the front line of animal care and customer service here at HSWM. From consulting with pet owners to kennel cleaning to vaccinating baby kittens, PAWS are truly the jack-of-all-trades of the shelter. If you want to move your love for the human-animal bond into a professional sector but you aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty, this is the job for you!
Our ideal candidate would have:
- High School education or GED
- Excellent customer service experience
- Communication skills and the ability to be a team player
- Animal handling/behavior experience
- The ability to work in all types of weather
- The ability to work independently and assess program needs
- A detail-oriented approach to task/project management
- Enthusiasm for animals and the people who love them
- The ability to solve problems quickly and thoughtfully
- The ability to lift at least 25 pounds regularly
- The ability to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies and operate maintenance equipment
