Humane Education

The Humane Society offers a variety of educational opportunities to learn about animals and help the shelter pets. We aim to help children and adults alike build a sense of kindness, respect and responsibility for all animals and life. Caring for animals fosters self-esteem and confidence, in both two-legged and four-legged participants. Be inspired to be an animal ambassador at home, in your neighborhood and in your community.

Education Programs

Invite the Humane Society to your classroom

The Humane Society of Western Montana offers a variety of humane education presentations available to clubs, groups and classrooms in Missoula and Lolo. Topics include vet care, caring for pets, clicker training dogs and more. The suggested donation is $20/group (not required) or students can coordinate a community service project and donate the proceeds to the shelter. We can also help your group develop a fundraising project.

Humane Society Shelter Tour

Bring your group or class to the shelter for a tour. Go behind the scenes at the Humane Society, get to know some of the shelter animals and learn about all the Humane Society has to offer the community. Tours can include spending time (or socializing) with cats, training dogs, making cat and dog toys, and more.
