The Humane Society of Western Montana is dedicated to finding a lifelong home for every adoptable animal. We strive to provide a facilitative adoption process and create successful matches for adopters and the pets in our care.
COVID-19 Adoption Health & Safety
We are committed to the health and safety of our community and staff. To do our part to help ensure human health and safety we are:
- Offering one-hour adoption appointments
- Offering video conference Meet & Greet appointments for pets in foster and the shelter
- Requiring staff and visitors to wear a face covering while in the building and/or interacting with one another
- Disinfecting spaces between visitors
Adoption by Appointment Steps
While we remain closed for walk-ins, adoptions by appointment are available Wednesday and Friday - Monday. Please complete the following steps if you are interested in an available cat, dog or small pet and thank you for choosing adoption!
Keep in mind some of our available pets may be in temporary foster homes and may not be immediately available for an in-person meet - but we are happy to arrange a virtual Meet & Greet.

We’ll Call You
Our knowledgeable PAWS will help you get to know the pets you are considering adopting. If you are uncertain or having difficulty choosing a pet, we can make suggestions based on our one-on-one conversation and your Pet & People Profile.
Schedule an In-person (or virtual) Meet & Greet
Adoption appointments are available Wednesday and Friday through Monday and, whenever possible, are made for the next day. We ask for a $10 appointment fee to reserve you spot. This fee helps support our Nandi Wishcamper Medical Assistance Fund and does not apply to a pet’s adoption fee.
Most pets are available to go home at the time of your In-person Meet & Greet. Our PAWS team will go over your new pet's medical records and answer any questions you may have about bringing home your new pet.
