Saving Lives, Supporting Families

The Humane Society of Western Montana builds opportunities for pets and people to thrive.

HSWM is an independent Montana nonprofit not a subsidiary of a larger national organization or a beneficiary of tax dollars. Your contributions sustain our pet saving programs which include adoptions, spay/neuter, behavior support, medical assistance, foster care and more. Every gift makes a difference in the life of a pet. Five dollars can buy a much needed core vaccine for a cat or dog. We hope you will join us in building opportunities for pets and people to thrive. Together we can make a lasting difference in the lives of the pets and families in Western Montana through our many opportunities to give.

All donations are put to good use immediately for the benefit of the pets in our building and beyond. If you are interested in supporting veterinary care, you can give directly to either of our our specialized funds:

Honorariums

Give the perfect commemorative gift in honor of a special pet or person with an honorarium.

Memorials

If you have lost a loved one, whether it be a pet or a person, you may make a memorial gift to carry on a legacy of love.

Medical Care Fund

Your generous donation to this fund helps us provide medical care to all pets in our facility as well as pets in need in our immediate community and beyond. Whether it’s spaying/neutering, vaccines or life-sustaining treatment, your contribution helps keep pets healthy and happy.

Financial Assistance Fund

We understand the financial burden of pet ownership and want to help those families who need extra support. Our Financial Assistance Fund helps low-income households keep their beloved pet so that no one has to make the difficult decision between their pet’s health and their family’s budget.

Planned Giving-Leaving a Legacy of Love

Planned gifts are the perfect way for individuals to create a lasting impact on the welfare of pets for years to come. Planned gifts are usually deferred, meaning they are arranged now and fulfilled later. Often, planned gifts allow you to make a more significant contribution than would otherwise be possible. Planned giving can be as simple as naming HSWM as a beneficiary in a will or a life insurance policy or as complex as an annuity. By donating assets such as stocks, real estate, IRA withdrawals or other financial instruments to HSWM, you can ensure that your contributions will benefit the pets and people of Western Montana in perpetuity. With planned giving, you can also enjoy tax benefits and other advantages while helping pets  in need.

While we are always here to answer questions about planned giving, we urge you to work with a financial advisor or estate attorney to ensure you achieve your personal financial and philanthropic objectives.

HSWM has an endowed fund entitled the Friends for Life, as well as an endowed account with the Montana Community Foundation. Donors have found that more complex financial instruments such as Charitable Gift Annuities are well managed by the vast experience and resources of the Montana Community Foundation.

Please contact Janet Rose, HSWM Director of Advancement, at janet.rose@myhswm.org or
(406) 549-9864 to discuss your planned giving opportunities.

We are deeply grateful to all who are considering, or have designated, a charitable bequest or other planned gift to the Humane Society of Western Montana. Your gift is a lasting legacy of love.

We are always in need of something!

You can help support shelter pets with an in-kind donation.
